The New Season for Crawling Ants is About to Begin
While it may feel as if winter has only just ended (hopefully), when spring springs into action, it means ants are never far behind. From April onwards, crawling ants will begin to be noticed by many. The season from April through until June is the prime time to see these ants around, and they do not just crop up in your garden, either.
While you may assume all ants look much the same, there are thousands of different species around. The garden ant is one of the more common ones in the UK today, but you might also be familiar with the so-called ‘red ant’. These are officially known as Roger’s ant, or Hypoponera punctatissima, if you want the proper name. As you may already know, these ants can sting, which is why it is best to steer clear if you can. Many people are keen to get rid of these red ants for this reason alone, but if you find you are plagued by lots of ants this spring and summer, you should consider seeking expert advice for ant removal.
If you only have ants in your garden, and they don’t seem to be causing too much concern, they should be easy to get rid of by going along the DIY route. However, if you have seen lots of ants and they are inside your property as well as outside, expert help is liable to be the best course of action. This is because experts will be able to identify which breed of ant is present, and can therefore find the most appropriate solution for removal and eradication of the pests.
It’s common enough to see ants during these months, but it is wise to be on alert so you know how many are around. You wouldn’t expect to see none, but if you notice hundreds of them and you identify ant nests nearby, this is the time to do something about it. If you can tackle a problem before it becomes too complex, finding a solution will be far easier than it would otherwise be.
So, now you know this is the time for ants to appear, be ready to look for them. That way, you can be ready to call for expert assistance should the need ever arise. The ants are ready for the spring months – are you?
