Wasp Nests In Dundee
This year has seen a dramatic increase in the number of wasp nests that we have had to deal with in Dundee . We’ve been busy working 12 hour days since June to deal with these wasp infestations and have come across a many households that have had two or three wasp nests, rather than just one.
We recently visited an elderly women in Invergowrie who called us saying she had found two wasp nests — but, when we did a survey we found four nests on her house. Within a week she called back saying she had found a further six nests!
Last summer a lot of wasp nests were very successful, which caused an increase in the number of young queens being produced. The cold winter temperatures normally kill off a large number of the new queen wasps — but last winter’s moderate winter temperatures have lead to a lot of the young queen wasps surviving. If we didn’t have such a mild winter, the number of wasps would be considerably lower. This year really has been a remarkable year for the number of wasps that we have dealt with!
